Pendine Events and Activities 2018

Pendine Events and Activities 2018

We are still negotiating some events for 2018 and as details are finalised they will be published here.

Beach Parking

The beach parking area will potentially open from Easter until the end of September depending on weather, tides and likely visitor numbers. When the parking area is open there will be a charge of £4. Only authorised vehicles are allowed to move out of this area or on to the beach at other times.

RNLI Lifeguards

The lifeguard service will be available from July until September between 10.00 -18.00. Exact dates to be confirmed.

Launching of Boats

Only current members of Pendine Boat Club, Llanmiloe Boat Club and Pendine Personal Water Craft Club may launch boats off the beach. Boats must be launched and return via the designated boat lane. Boats are forbidden to enter the designated swimming area.

Fishing Competitions

We have links with a number of sea angling clubs who hold competitions throughout the year.

Filming

The council lets out the beach for film purposes. Sometimes these productions are for advertising, but also companies make programmes for  TV and film for cinema.

Current Events/Activities

March

Easter Saturday, March 31st sees the return to the sands after an absence of nearly 70 years of the Welsh TT.

In memory of the WELSH TT , in conjunction with Pendine Community Council , an oval speedway/short-track circuit racing for Solo motorcycles .
Back in the roaring twenties , the Welsh TT , later known as the Welsh 100 , drew up to 40,000 spectators to the seaside village of Pendine. This was more crowd than an International rugby match in those days !.
Sir Lawrence of Arabia was a regular competitor on the beach and took many wins on his Brough Superior SS100 motorcycle. In fact , the founder of Brough motorcycles , renamed his house in England “Pendine” due to the success of his motorcycles at Pendine Sands Welsh TT events.
We cannot replicate the 100 mile , 2.5 lap circuit used in those days , but we plan an event similar to speedway but with varied types of solo motorcycles and quads. We expect to attract riders from the age of 3 yrs to 73yrs old from all parts of the UK. Free entry to any walking spectators , £4 entry to vehicles on the beach. For further details go to:
